The following message was sent to Rick Snyder today.
Dear Mr. Synder,
The State House and Senate truly did lackadaisical work when providing the fiscal analysis for the proposed motorcycle helmet law repeal.
Here are analyses performed for TennCare by the Tennessee state house and senate. Note, their estimates for increased costs of at least $1-2 million dollars per year for TennCare alone – do not include long term care.
This is a state with a smaller population and a smaller proportion of Medicaid enrollment than the great state of Michigan.
As executive, you have promised to put our state’s finances in order. Tell the proponents of motorcycle helmet repeal to come back when they find you $2 million dollars in revenues (at least) and tell the legislature to do their job (or at least plagiarize from a state that does) when doing fiscal analysis.
Thank you and as always – as a fellow Washtenaw County resident, I would love to get together with you some time to chat about this.
