The Washtenaw County Medical Society met at the Ann Arbor City Club on Tuesday evening, November 9, 2010. President, Cheryl Farmer, MD, called the meeting to order.
The minutes from the May 11, 2010, General Session Meeting, as published in the July/August/September 2010 Bulletin, were unanimously approved.
2011 WCMS BALLOT
Diana Torres-Burgos, MD, MPH, Chair of the WCMS Nominating Committee, presented the WCMS 2011 Ballot. The slate of officers included Cynthia H. Krueger, MD, President-elect; Barbara A. Threatt, MD, Secretary; and Edward P. Washabaugh, MD, Treasurer. The three candidates for elected positions on the WCMS Executive Council were Andrew R. Barnosky, DO, MPH; Charles F. Koopmann, MD; and Joseph B. Thompson, MD. Seven members running for a two-year term (2011-2012) as Delegates to the MSMS House of Delegates were Allan C.D. Brown, MD; Sandro K. Cinti, MD; Joel J. Heidelbaugh, MD; Daniel G. Sherick, MD; Diana E. Torres-Burgos, MD, MPH; Edward P. Washabaugh, MD; and Mary H. Westhoff, MD. Alternate Delegates running for a two-year term (2011-2012) were Michael G. Chrissos, MD; Christopher S. Kim, MD; Charles F. Koopmann, MD; Barry M. Nathan, MD; Raymond J. Rion, MD; Joseph B. Thompson, MD; and Bradley J. Uren, MD. James C. Mitchiner, MD, made a motion to unanimously accept the slate of officers, delegates, and alternate delegates as presented on the ballot. Motion carried.
INTRODUCTION
President Farmer introduced Wayne Vaupel, MSMS Physicians Insurance Agency (PIA) representative, and thanked him for PIA’s support of the WCMS General Sessions.
PROGRAM
President Farmer introduced the evening’s program, “Mirror Neurons and Empathy: An Interactive Cased-Based Approach to Treating Difficult Patients.” Evangeline J. Spindler, MD, Past President, Michigan Psychoanalytic Society; Training and Supervising Analyst, Michigan Psychoanalytic Council Faculty, University of Michigan Medical School and Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute, Ann Arbor, was the featured speaker.
